Faithful Fridays in my place to share some of my more spiritual thoughts with you. As the title implies, I will post here on Fridays. Maybe not every Friday. But I hope to have a new post here at least one or two times a month.
Here is where I will give you some bits of wit and wisdom that I’ve picked up over the years. Sometimes I will offer my thoughts on popular quotations or bible verses. Other times I will pick a thought or phrase that is more my own. My intentions are to give you a fresh perspective, some comfort, or maybe a little inspiration. I have a different view point than most people of faith. Life is so hard. No one knows that more than parents with special needs children. I hope that my view point will resonate with you on a soul level. Having faith in a power greater than you is tough when you’ve been beaten down and dragged through life.
I’m a believer in Jesus and I have a deep relationship with my Heavenly Father. But it took me decades to get to a good place spiritually. When I was just a young mom with a cancer child I had religion, but not real faith. The tragedy of that illness eventually built faith and a relationship with God. But it took a very long time for the metamorphosis to occur. I am still a work in progress. Each significant event with my one of my children sends me on a new spiritual journey, searching for more meaning.
More than most, I understand that everyone is at a different place spiritually. It is my intention to embrace you where you are at and not belittle or offend you. As a parent with a lot of challenges, you already feel like a failure (or maybe that’s just me). You don’t need anyone to make you feel more so. You need building up, not further tear down. It is my hope that the thoughts I share here will nurture your spirit and help you to grow a faith that will see you through the difficult times ahead (sorry to break it to you, but there will be more).
If you’re saying, “Hey Mary, I’m not into Jesus. Thanks, but no thanks.” I hope you will read some posts anyway. I promise to not beat you over the head with “the Jesus thing”. It is my hope that you find a few bits that resonate with you, regardless of where you are spiritually or what your belief system may be. I promise that what I have to say can be useful to anyone. Faith is not necessarily just tied to a religion or belief system. We all need to have some sort of faith so we can believe that things will get better. And they will get better.
What I especially hope you will find in my thoughts is inspiration and encouragement, the little word to cling to that will float you through today. Here’s to keeping your head above water. May you find some words here that float you like a life raft and relieve some of the pressure of your heavy life.
